The Lane women’s soccer team saw its three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Skagit Valley Community College Oct. 6 in Mount Vernon, Wash.
The Titans were held scoreless for the fourth time this year as they suffered a 1-0 defeat.
Lane played a tough first half as they kept the Cardinals from scoring with tough defense from freshmen Cori Coon and Jenessa DeWitt.
Skagit Valley got onto the scoreboard eight minutes into the half on a goal by freshman Sarah Tuemmler.
Although the Titans had numerous scoring chances in the second half, they couldn’t quite get one through the back of the net and had to take the loss.
Although the Titans’ three-game winning streak was broken, they are ranked fifth in the latest NWAACC rankings, two seeds behind Southern Region foe Clackamas.
Lane returns to action October 10 when they host the Chemeketa Storm in a Southern Region game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Organizers hope to raise breast cancer awareness, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation. The first 500 attendees will receive a commemorative t-shirt.
